Meet Erica

Erica is a psychotherapist licensed in Maryland and Pennsylvania, an experienced yoga teacher and continuing education provider with Yoga Alliance.

Since graduating with a Master of Arts in mental health therapy from Boston College in 2014, she has completed trainings in trauma informed care, yoga for mental health, and mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapy. She provided clinical and case management services for underserved children and families in public schools and homeless shelters early in her career. This work inspired her to gain more experience teaching yoga, and eventually lead to her teaching yoga and mindfulness classes with nonprofit organizations to better support different communities.

Through clinical and teaching experience, Erica has seen how mindfulness-based mental health therapy has a wide range of applications.  In her private practice, she specializes in anxiety disorders such as panic attacks, obsessional thinking, and social anxiety.  Erica also enjoys working closely with clients who are struggling to cope with multiple concerns at once, also known as dual-diagnosis (i.e. eating disorders and anxiety, substance abuse and depression, or impulse control and relationship issues).  Alongside mindfulness, she incorporates evidence-based practices such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, and Psychodynamic approaches based on client needs.

Erica has spent most of her career researching, learning, and practicing ways to integrate traditional mental health treatment and mindfulness, an emerging area of research, although a modality that has been around for thousands of years.
She feels strongly that the space held in therapy should be a space held for all.  Because of this, Erica continues to do her own work to become an informed therapist so she can hold space for all clients of diverse backgrounds and identities in the best way possible.  Her passion comes from a hope that self-care through mindfulness will one day be accessible to everyone, and in order to get there, we need to begin now.
